“But Where Do You Get Your Protein?”

(A Vegan Like Mi, Truth Talk)

Ohhh, the question every vegan hears at least once a week — and usually from someone holding a burger 😅. Let’s clear this up once and for all: plants have protein, boo. Lots of it.

Protein isn’t hiding out in meat; it’s in the same place animals get their protein — plants.
So when we’re loading up on lentils, chickpeas, tofu, or quinoa, we’re eating straight from the source.

Here’s the real deal:

🌱 Legumes (beans, lentils, chickpeas) — full of protein and fiber to keep you full and regular.
🍚 Whole grains like quinoa and brown rice — yes, your carbs are working double duty.
🥜 Nuts & seeds — little powerhouses of protein, healthy fats, and crunch.
🍢 Soy & seitan — tofu, tempeh, and even mock meats pack serious grams.
🥦 Veggies — believe it or not, spinach, broccoli, and peas all bring protein to the party.

Most people need less protein than they think — and when you eat a balanced vegan plate full of real, whole foods, you’re covered.

Bonus win:
Plant protein comes with no cholesterol, more fiber, and way more vitamins and minerals. Translation: your heart, gut, and energy levels all thank you later.

So next time somebody asks, “But where do you get your protein?”
Just smile and say:
👉🏽 “From the same place your protein gets its protein — plants.” 🌿💅🏽
